Our Devotee2Devotee Facebook Group is hosting our second group reading of “Mejda – The Family and the Early Life of Paramahansa Yogananda” by Sananda Lal Ghosh. From October 20th through November 11th, approximately one chapter a day will be read (22 chapters over 23 days).  Please join us online on Facebook OR read on your own or with a group of devotees at home.

We invite you to post short quotes (2-3 sentences) from the text as well as add photos of India and Master’s family, friends, and teachers.Please keep ALL posts positive and uplifting — and directly pertaining to the “Mejda” material.

Mejda is available at the SRF Online Bookstore and the YSS Online Bookstore – and in Espanol:  Cartone format and Rústica format.

Soon after our “Mejda” reading, we will begin our annual reading of The Autobiography of a Yogi, so our discussion of Paramahansa Yogananda’s life will continue into early 2018.

Our group readings have been a blessing for many. Master is joyfully with us — guiding and blessing us! All sincere devotees of our Guru are welcome to join us.

Our Guru Paramahansa Yogananda has said that there is celebration in the astral on the special days of our Great Gurus, and that when we tune in to these vibrations we receive special blessings. One way we can tune in is to start in advance bringing the Guru into our consciousness by reading about him from our SRF/YSS teachings and sharing quotes and photos with each other.

About Lahiri Mahasaya:

“One of the seminal figures in the renaissance of yoga in modern times, the revered nineteenth-century master LAHIRI MAHASAYA, had foretold: ‘About fifty years after my passing, an account of my life will be written because of a deep interest in yoga that will arise in the West. The message of yoga will encircle the globe. It will aid in establishing the brotherhood of man: a unity based on humanity’s direct perception of the One Father.’

Many years later, Lahiri Mahasaya’s exalted disciple Swami Sri Yukteswar related this prophecy to Sri Yogananda. ‘You must do your part in spreading that message,’ he declared, ‘and in writing that sacred life.’

It was in 1945, exactly fifty years after Lahiri Mahasaya’s passing, that Paramahansa Yogananda completed his ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’, which amply fulfilled both of his guru’s injunctions: providing the first detailed presentation in English of Lahiri Mahasaya’s remarkable life, and introducing to a world audience India’s age-old science of the soul.”

Today, Self-Realization Fellowship officially announced Brother Chidananda as the next President and Spiritual Head of SRF YSS.

According to the SRF website, “Prior to her passing in 2010, late SRF President Sri Daya Mata expressed her conviction to Mrinalini Mata that Brother Chidananda should succeed Mrinalini Mata as president and spiritual head of SRF/YSS. Mrinalini Mata confirmed this some months before her own passing on August 3, 2017, and affirmed to the Board of Directors her agreement with Daya Mata’s recommendation.”

Around 11pm on Thursday, August 3rd, our beloved President Sri Mrinalini Mata left the earth to join our divine gurus.  We are saddened by our loss, yet we rejoice that she is now with Master. We thank her for her 70 years of selfless service.
